Most AMS augers come in a choice of materials: e.g.: all stainless steel, stainless steel cylinder, tungsten carbide surfaced, hardened high carbon steel bits, high carbon steel bails etc.

As well as the distinctive AMS "Regular" auger there are also sand augers, dutch type augers, mud augers, spiral and flighted augers etc.

Some of these types also have better quality variants:
  • Reinforced augers are specially designed for heavy-duty augering. They are built to withstand unusual, and considerable amounts of power.
  • Professional series augers have thicker (11 gauge) cutting teeth with stronger welds and extra tungsten carbide hard surfacing. Professional augers are also reinforced with extra gussets welded at both the top and bottom of the bail. The gussets help prevent the bail from bending or twisting when augering into hard or rocky soils, or when the augered hole is exceptionally deep.

AMS augers are available with different connection types, such as their own Signature series, 5/8" threaded, quick-connect, hex quick pin etc.
