Used to determine the moisture content at which clay soils pass from a plastic to a liquid state. Comprises: removable brass cup, adjustable crank and cam mechanism, blow counter, and base.
The grooving tools, which also refer to the different Standards, are not included and have to ordered separately.

The Australian liquid limit device is a hand operated unit designed and manufactured to conform to Australian Standard (AS1289.3).
It can be combined with a NZS calibrated bowl for a complete device to NZS 4402.2.2
A carefully machined unit, the cup height is fully adjustable and the drop is set at 10mm at the time of manufacture.
Also available is machine fitted with an electric motor which gives the required rate of two revolutions per second. A mechanical counter is fitted which automatically records the number of drops during a test.
