Calibrations for Nuclear Densometers
ACCREDITATION:
Groundtest Equipment has been assessed by International Accreditation New Zealand and has been found to comply with the requirements of ISO/IEC GUIDE 24:1990 and ISO 9002:1994. Groundtest Equipment is registered under the Testing Laboratory Registration Act 1972 as a NEW ZEALAND ACCREDITED CALIBRATION LABORATORY.
Registration Number:   658
Date of Registration:   2 Sept 1997

Groundtest Equipment is also a Troxler endorsed calibration laboratory.
Groundtest staff have been trained at Troxler Electronic Laboratories in North Carolina.

Point
We apply the most advanced method of calibration available today – the three-block calibration that Troxler Electronic Laboratories developed as an advance over the older five-block procedure.
We stock all the commonly used parts.
We calibrate all brands and models of nuclear density gauges currently in use in NZ. We use the three-block method according to NZS4407, which is the most modern method of calibration, and the one used by nearly all calibration services worldwide.
Calibration Blocks

Assessment Service.

If you are unsure about the condition of a gauge you can have it assessed for calibration.
The charge for this service, $100.00 + GST.
The charge is waived if we then calibrate the machine.

Shipping NDMs.

For your convenience, before you send your NDM for service give us a call: we will post you the documents required for transport – the Special Form Certificate and Shippers Declaration for Dangerous Goods – pre-addressed and with the description of goods table all completed.

If you have a colour printer in your office, we can email you pdf copies of the transport documents so you always have them on hand.

Prices for Calibrations

The prices for recalibration include pre-calibration and post-calibration checks and lubrication. Prices do not include freight but we will send you the correct documents for transportation if you require them.

Complete Calibration $875
3 positions: backscatter, 300mm and 150mm $560
Backscatter and 150mm $460
1 position, e.g. 150mm direct transmission $360
Wipe Test $45

There are sometimes additional costs for new bearings, seals etc. A complete set is about $200. However if the bearings are in good condition we replace only the top and bottom seals and the shield spring, which costs about $50.
We also check all the labels on the box, gauge and sources to make sure that they conform to the latest National Radiation Laboratory regulations, and we do leak tests for $45 per gauge if necessary. Typical turnaround time for a calibration is one week.
